I was watching This Week in South Florida with Michael Putney earlier today, and Putney said that Annette Taddeo had officially announced her candidacy for Florida's 18th Congressional district yesterday. I haven't found any other official source, but Putney is usually reliable. That means Rep. Ileana Ros Lehtinen, who has represented district 18 since 1989(!), finally has a challenger.
What do they say about things that come in threes? I'm sure Ileana, Lincoln and Mario are gonna want to know.
[Addendum]
Bookmark the official websites of the three Democrat candidates this year, and spread the word.
- Raul Martinez
- Joe Garcia
- Annette Taddeo

you can see Annette's official site at www.annette2008.com
I hadn't heard of Annette until recently and I researched her and her resume is quite impressive.
And the fact that she was born and raised in Colombia brings a whole new dynamic to the election because Colombians are the second largest Hispanic group in Miami-Dade.
Besides, there are many Cuban Americans who are already sick of Ileana and the Diaz-Balarts.
This is going to be one of the most interesting South Florida elections in a long, long time.
And you're right, Putney is reliable.
Thanks Danielle.
Well, she got a good record on AIDS legislation. Something I personally have not heard Taddeo has mad no statementes about. If Ileana is running on her record. And her record is not too bad, Taddeo has a lot of work to do.
I am not a big Ileana fan,but she even Jumped and cosponsored HR6680 on lifting the ban on Federal Money for Syringe Exchange Programs. Given that at least in Florida 50% of all new AIDs cases comes from IV drug users. People are also getting tired of some of the War on Drugs regulations that do harm to the citizenship. I am all for this. She's got my vote.
