Posada Carriles News

Earlier this week, Radio Mambi reported that Luis Posada Carriles' lawyer, Arturo Hernandez, believes that his client's history with the CIA is relevant to his upcoming case on immigration fraud and will seek to present that evidence at trial. It seems that it will be argued that the false passport that was found with an alias for Posada Carriles originated from his CIA days. As for the other charges, it is not clear how the CIA is relevant.

As Posada Carriles' May 11th trial approaches, the US government has taken the steps to insure that any information related to the CIA be barred from the immigration trial. According to the AFP, the US federal prosecutors filed a 9-page motion stating that "Posada Carriles's relationship with the Central Intelligence Agency ended more than 30 years ago and that as testimony or questioning about those ties were not relevant to his trial on immigration charges."

It seems that Arturo Hernandez will attempt to ignore that motion.

A motion is not an order. Hernández is perfectly right to ignore it.

I'm not arguing that Hernandez doesn't have the right to do so. He does, but does he have a good reason that will stand up?

In regards to the fake passport, is it relevant that the passport originated from the CIA? Does that fact ALLOW any former CIA agent to continue carrying it (maybe using it) around?

According to the DOJ:

"Posada further stated in his naturalization interview that he had never had any type of documentation, passport or identification from the Republic of Guatemala, when, in fact, he had a fraudulent passport issued by that nation bearing his photograph in the name of 'Manuel Enrique Castillo Lopez,' the indictment alleges."

Is it allowed for former CIA agents to lie about their possessions that originate from their CIA history?

Hernandez will have to answer those questions. And then he will have to explain the other charges of false statements.

I also added your new blog to my page. Interesting commentary. Gonna keep an eye on it.

Thanking you for linking me; and you are right, I am in the middle as concerns you. I have not given up on you. I think that redemption is not beyond you. If your own wisdom can't guide you to it, perhaps mine can.

Wisdom? I think you still have to prove that you have it.

Evidence that supports your comments that Jose Miguel Insulza "took refuge" in East Germany, and that Posada Carriles has been acquitted THREE times in Venezuelan courts would just begin to repair your record of falsehoods.

I look forward to seeing such evidence, even on your blog.
